Too big for me. After driving a crewcab Ford for several years, the quad cab fit the bill perfectly. Bigger than extended cabs from GM and Ford... big enough for a full grown adult in any seat, front or back.
Dodge does need to up its payload ratings and offer a longbed megacab truck.

The mega cab will probably never see production with an 8' long bed. It's too long to fit in 80% of American garages and soccer moms won't be able to park it at the hair dresser.

Ha! So glad I didn't marry the soccer mom type!
Seriously, though, you don't see folks not buying crewcab Ford and GM trucks. Maybe they DO fit in most garages... I dunno (never have had a garage.)
Something to be said for folks who drive "traditional" pickups... I'd be happy for Dodge to trim a few inches off the cab and give a full 8' bed, dually, with payload comparable to the other 2 big pickup manufacturers...

Well, we have decided on a Duramax. The ford interior looked very cheap and unattractive. After driving the Chevy, I am convinced, I just need to wait for interest rates to come down a bit

If you don't want something unattractive you better take another look at the front end of that Chevy. Better yet, look the whole truck over again.
opinions are like A-holes, everyone has one. Moldman there is more than one kind of truck on the market and if you would take your blue oval blinders off, you would see that they all have there advantages. All three make a great truck, it is a buyers market, buy the one you like best.

Sorry, the New Chevies are hideous, a lot of of the guys that have them agree that they are. They bought it for the car like ride and DMAX/Allyson combo. Personnally, if I wanted a GM I would get a 2008 GMC. That is a NICE truck.

Solid front axle. Excellent ground clearance. 2 things that GMs do not have. Ken I guarantee you if you drove as superduty for a day as well as a GM an Dodge. Youd pic the Ford hands down. I want you to try them all out before you make a decision. Ask the superduty guys personally how they like there trucks. Thats a good way to find out the lowdown. Good Luck
[/ QUOTE ]
Why dont you just let him make the decision for himself. I have been in and drive plenty of Fords. My cousin had one. I have never been impressed with the interior, and you can get as big or bigger of a cab from the other 2 manufacturers. I personally like a regular cab anyways. Honestly, with fords latest offering of diesel motor, I would take a chevy or dodge over a ford. Im a cummins man though. It isnt a diesel if it isnt an I-6. But the d-max is a good engine, in a good truck. I just like the I-6 cummins. Just go drive them all and pick for yourself.

Put the Dmax or the Cummins in the Superduty and you would have the perfect truck. GM is butt ugly and Dodge just a little bit better.

Torqueshift is as good as anything out there. How many posts about problems with it do you see? Independant repair shops almost never see them. I think it's performance is awesome also. No complaints there.
Well Ken, I think you have made a very good choice. When I was in the market for a truck, I drove all three. I went for a '97 for money reasons (I am a freshman in college) and if you were in the market for an older truck, I would say go with Ford with out a bit of hesitation. The 7.3L PSD is a very good engine. However, I have heard horror stories about the new 6.0L and I would be willing to bet a lot of money that the new 6.4L in 2008 will not be much better. They are putting 2 turbo's in it which will make it break down twice as often. If you are willing to wait till Janurary, and you arent worried about finding ULSD, then I would think about the new 6.7L Cummins. The old 5.9 was/is great. But I really think the 6.7 would be worth the wait. Cummins is known for they're extremely reliable engines. However, so is Isuzu. That's who makes the Duramax. They have been making diesel engines for japaneese trucks for years and they really know their stuff. Some of the older ones had problems of droping glow plugs into the cyllinders, but I do believe that was fixed about 2005. The engine is very refined, very powerful, and it is an extremely fast truck, if you are into that kind of thing. Allison makes transmissions for the millitary, so they know their business as well. Plus, you only get a 5 speed auto with the Ford; you get a 6 speed with the Chevrolet. Again, I think you have made the right choice. Dont pay too much attention to moldman. He has waaayyyyy too much brand loyalty. Go buy your Chevy and enjoy it. Congrats!

I came from a 250 to my current 06 LBZ, I really don't understand why all of you always put down the independent front suspension? It rides better, handles better. Sure if you go mud boggin the solid front axle is better, but for most of us that use it for daily driving and towing, it really doesn't matter. I am a home builder and am always offroad on job sites.

independent front suspension?
Just don't put your truck in 4WD and try to pull someone outa the ditch with your front wheels spinning on the dry black top you will spend some time in the garage.
I seen a LOT of those front ends take a dump on the track. They are fine if you keep em where they belong. ON THE ROAD!!

I like Ford because my 99 F250 was the first good truck I had after 3 Chevy disasters in a row. I also tried all three trucks when I bought my 2006 F350. I test drove a GMC because in my opinion the new Chevy is too ugly to own. I would seriously consider a 2008 GMC if I was looking now, even though they aren't out quite yet. Yes, looks are subjective but come on, look at that Chevy front end! Looking for a truck next year would involve three test drives also as they are all new. I am Ford loyal to a point but the 2008 Superduty could have been better in my opinion. I would probably lean to the 2008 GMC if I were in the market right now. I would have to try the new Cummins with 6 speed auto also. I don't like the 2008 Superduty front and all those badges look hokey. The Dmax/allyson reached a very good peak with the LBZ DMAX. The LLY DMAX was nothing to write home about. The Dodge was handicapped by a crappy 4 speed auto. It's a whole new ballgame now. GMC has a good looking truck and probably a good motor- definately a good auto trans. The Dodge has a new 6 speed auto up to the task (maybe). Displacement on the Cummins moves way up to 6.7 - that should be a torque monster. Ford has a new 6.4 they have put through some grueling tests and is now as quiet as the competition and has a lot more power to boot, mated to a great auto tranny. I love Fords but for 2008 that GMC would be calling me. Then again, you just can't beat a Ford chasis and suspension for work..................
