Shell fuel..

I filled up, and have done so at other times, with Shell fuel, and see they are one of the only ones that sells "Ultra Diesel", which comes with an additive in it, similar to the additives many of us add additionally anyway.
Its a few cents more than "regular" Diesel, and I see it is sold both in the U.S., and Canada, and thought I would see what your thoughts are on where you choose to pay more for fuel with an additive right at the pumps!

I DO know, that here in southern B.C. in Canada, that the Fire Department (our local fire department) was exclusively using it, and see it is often the choice by most guys filling up when I am.

It kind of makes me wonder why other fuel companies don't sell fuel with the additive (Standyne or others) as they could buy in volume, and at least give customers the option of regular or "Ultra".

Thoughts...as in would you pay a few more cents for having a good additive "choice" at the pumps?

Re: Shell fuel..

A poll would work well for this question.

Me personally I'd say I would IF I knew exactly what the additive was and it's concentration not a voodoo additive like you see for every station has their own for gassers.

As to why they don't do it 2 reasons, 1 requires an extra set of everything from tanks to nozzles for them to offer both and 2 the % of users who add additives now I imagine is very small so there's not a large market beyond the enthusiasts.

Re: Shell fuel..

I see (at least up here) that "regular" Diesel is being dropped, and only "Ultra" is the option available. Perhaps as you mention, they only want to use a single tank.
