Smoking dt 466 engine - Diesel Forum

I have a 1981 dt 466 that is making black smoke. I know it is excessive fuel related from information provided by the service manual. I have checked the excessive fuel system and it pushes back with oil pressure. It is not the air filter as it is new and there is a air filter restriction guage on the truck and it works. The problem came on suddenly and I hae read all the service manual info and don't know what to check for next. Can anyone help?

Inspect the turbocharger and pluming, also check the air charge cooler (intercooler) for cracks in the header tanks. (Follow the oily mess)
