Just catching up on my news, (saved on the DVR), and all these ppl losing jobs everywhere now the International Engine plant here in town is talking about layoffs. International builds 6.0s here in Indianapolis, and the local news is now talking about how the International/Ford contract, due to end in 2012, is being cut short 2 years by Ford pulling out in 2010. I've searched for anything as slight as speculation as to what this might mean for Powerstroke equipped pickup trucks beyond 2010, but have come up with nothing? Can someone point me in any direction? I'm just 'way' curious. I know that Ford wanting out of the contract isn't new, late-breaking news, but I guess now it's official, and I'm just wondering what is gonna take the place of the powerstroke equipped super-duty.

The 6.4 will be replaced very soon by a 6.7-litre V8 named the Scorpoin. It will be manufactered at the Ford plant in Chihuahua, Mexico together with a 4.4-litre diesel and Ford has developed the both engines from the very beginning. The Scorpion is coming already in August if my souces are right.
I am hoping that IH will build and supply 7.3L parts for a long time. These engines are large in numbers, so I think it would be in their best interest.

IH should have parts for them for a long time. They used the 7.3L DI in their own trucks, so ...
That doesn't mean they won't play games with marketing & pricing them.
Some years ago, they were notorious for maintaining (at least) two sets of part numbers - one for school buses and another for trucks. Knowing that school districts buy new buses on "least bid" basis and keep them for a very long time, they underpriced new buses and overpriced replacement parts.
Nothing says they won't do the same for Ford trucks.

Anyone else have any new info on the new engine? I'm also curious about it, debating weather to get a 6.4 or wait for fords new engine.
I would not even think about buying a truck with that first generation engine. Bound to be problems with it. Wait a year or two and see how it turns out.
