ULSD Fuel

Here are a couple of links regrding ULSD fuel:

ULSD Fuel is a link for info about ultra-low sulphur diesel fuel.

ULSD Bulletin is info specific to 2006 and 2007 model year F250-550 Ford trucks.

Hope this helps clear up some of the confusion with regard to ULSD and it's distribution & use in California and the rest of the country.

Enjoy...

Re: ULSD Fuel

just need to add some comments. ever since this diesel has come out, i have had a slew of diesels, 7.3's & 6'0's come in my shop w/ inj's sticking, fuel pumps going south, & orings deteriating & leaking. i have done the inj. bench pressure test w/ our tester buy applying air to them & found they can leak internallly. i've made some money doing so. just thought i'd mention that.

Re: ULSD Fuel

dieselmech50s,

Yep weve been hearing this too. Our sales of P and V Pumps for Dodges has taken off like a rocket since ULSD came out too!! Same ole deal the consumer pays for it, most of the time without knowing they are having problems not caused by the failure of the parts etc.

Re: ULSD Fuel

Hey Moderators: Can y'all make this post a "sticky"? There have been several posts recently regarding ULSD. Perhaps this info will be useful.

Thanks...

Re: ULSD Fuel

So how can we make the goverment pay for the parts they are messin up on are trucks? It just doesnt seem right that these trucks will run good for so long on the old fuel and then the new stuff comes in and bam here we are payin for new parts just because they had to change the fuel.

Fordman : About the only way to get the government to pay up is file a huge class action lawsuit that would drag on for 10+ yrs & we would still get left holding the bag! kinda sucks.

Re: ULSD Fuel

Everyone - keep good records on this. Like texrob1 said, it may be 10+ years, but I fully expect a class-action lawsuit on this.

Re: ULSD Fuel

they protect theirselves by telling you to use a lubricity additive to account for the lack of lubricant in the fuel. the big rigs use it now more than ever. they all have big yellow labels on the tanks saying to use this fuel & no other. But we have to pay for the additives. Still not right. They should have to put it in the new fuel b4 we get it at the pump.

Re: ULSD Fuel

I don't know if it is any better but most of the diesel owners I know use either power service diesel kleen, Or stanadyne. I use power service mainly because I can pick it up at walmart.

Re: ULSD Fuel

I use power service diesel kleen Diesel Kleen +Cetane Boost too because it is easier to get. I only use the silver bottle though. It doesn't get cold enough in the winter to use the white bottle(winter additive added). The silver bottle claims to boost your cetane up to 4 numbers.

Re: ULSD Fuel

Bio diesel as a lube in warm temps is an excellent choice.
All above additives as stated, and good old Marvel Mystery oil.
