General DieselDiscussion about diesels in general. All brands are welcome, please refrain from brand wars. Discussions about types of diesel fuel also go here.
The EPA – an agency that systematically underestimates the costs of their agenda -estimated that Lieberman-Warner would increase gas prices by $1.50/gallon. The more-realistic NAM estimates it to be more like $5/gallon. If you split the difference, that is an increase of $3.25/gallon. Are you ready for $8/gallon diesel?
Write them. Hand write it, don’t type it or e-mail it as they assume any typed letters or e-mails come from political bots. Tell them specifically that you oppose this legislation.

Write, call, or even visit them and say something about anything, don't just be apathetic about life!

I live in Michigan's 12th congressional district. My C.C. is so senile, I'm not sure he's still capable of reading the printed page. I think they're propping him up and voting for him, Politburo style.
In any case, I have higher prioties than opposing a bill that isn't going anywhere anyway. (particularly during a reelection year) It was referred to committee in October, where it hasn't been out of the drawer since last year.
Quote:

I'd say it has no chance this year. It would indeed be veto-bait for President Bush.
Those of you in state of co-sponsoring senators need to send them letters as well.
Bill rarely make it through on the first try. This year's try is just for political posturing. Next year (all three Presidential candidates seem well-disposed toward "cap-and-trade" (regulate and tax) nmeasures. A storm of outcry will force them to rethink thier positions next year.
Don't just sit there and b***h. Let the powers that be know you don't like the idea of higher priced diesel fuel.

A POLITICAL DEBATE, we are all in this together! AND WE ARE ALL SHOWING RESPECT FOR EACH OTHER! All of us and even our jobs are threatened by oil and gas prices. If all 40,000 of us members here start writing to our representatives, the papers, other sites and anyone that will listen possibly just possibly we can get these lazy people listening!
We are in a WAR, not with each other.

Reason: A TUNE UP ON WORDING

According to Inhofe, the ranking Republican on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, the bill will make it to the floor of the Senate on June 2. If so, our response/action is needed now.
Hand-write your letter. They judge these to be far more genuine than typed of e-mailed messages. In fact, most congresscritters delete all e-mails from the outside.
Identify yourself as an active voter in his/her state. If you want to add you voted for him/her last election, that wouldn’t hurt.
Keep it short. “War and Peace” is not necessary. Short is better. Fifty words or less.
Stay on topic. If you want to vent about something else, write another letter to cover that. Too many subjects bumfuzzles the Senators’ staffers (the only ones that will read the letter).
The topic is S.2191 and why you oppose it. Nothing else. Ask him her to oppose either the bill itself if it comes to a vote or vote against a cloture resolution if it is filibustered.
Stay polite, but remind them you will remember how they voted on this issue.
Try to get other people to write them on the subject.
The bill goes to the floor in the first few days of June.
This is your chance to at least get in a whack at fuel prices.
