I have a Sirius enabled radio in my new '08 F-350 and I'm wondering if I can get my XM subscription switched to the same radio. Normally I wouldn't think that this would be remotely possible, but in light of the recent merger and the possibility of new equipment being able to handle either provider, I thought I'd ask. Before the questions start about Sirius vs. XM, the reason I have XM is for the MLB baseball package and spring training will be starting soon!! Thanks
Pretty sure you're SOL for now...and probably for a while yet. While it wouldn't be too hard for the radio mfg to create a dual-compatible system, I doubt we'll see it another year or two yet.

There is no recent merger. There is a merger in the planning stages, but it hasn't happened yet. You won't be able to get XM on a Siruis radio until sometime after the merger completes and nobody knows when that will happen.

I have XM and Sirius. I just got a new Sirius tunner and when I activated it they told me they will be offering XM channels in the beginning of the new year. She told me that what that means they are unsure. It could be January, February, or March. At that time you could keep your Sirius and pic up to 50 Xm channels. The plans are at Xmmerger.com and Siriusmerger.com.

Try checking out http://www.tssradio.com I know they sell xm to sirius convertions, you may just have bite the bullet and buy a plug and play, and 2004fx4 unfortunately you were mislead the merger is being drug out by several terestrial radio influenced senators. so it wont be happening anytime in the near future

It still has to be approved by the FCC and the DOJ but in the link below it explains that its probably going to be approved but its not approved yet.
Im not sure what you usually listen to or read but everything Ive heard and seen says that theres no reason for it not to go through but 2 senators( cant remember their names) are very heavily fiananced via the major radio broadcasting companies. they both claim that the merger would create a monopoly. thus should not be allowed. Even though over 85% of the terrestrial radio companies are owned by the same 2 broadcasting companies. It comes down to the fact that if you want to use your freedom of speech you have to take it to a market the fcc doesnt have power over but then when you want to combine 2 compainies that actually used to be one(side note; sirius actually owned the technology for both sirius and Xm but then they had to sell because they were" a monopoly" so they were forced to sell an equal share of technology to a startup company xm)you have to get approval. If in fact they were combined you would see mobile sat. telivision, they already have it through sirius but with limited channels, with the merger they would be able to broadcast with over 100 channels. Im sure this goes over the top for the subject but just thought i would share

I think it was mentioned above....There IS a unit you can buy to turn your factory XM radio into a fully functional Sirius radio but I'm not sure if there is a product to do it the other way around...worth looking into...I would give XM a call.
I got an email last year from XM about the merger. It stated something about getting XM or Sirius on ether of the unit types. Darn if I can find that email to post right now.
