Re: 7.3 swap to 1974

I don't have too much to offer except this old webpage:

http://www.fordcummins.com/1974_ford.htm

with a couple pictures that still load. It's a 74 with a Cummins and a ZF.

I have a 75 crew cab 4x4 that I swapped in a 460 gasser using L&L mounts. It's ugly, beat and rusty (like me) and I love it!

There's a guy who posts here that has an early ford with a Powerstroke in it. He did a really clean job but I don't remember who it was.

Re: 7.3 swap to 1974

I'm thinking it was a young guy from Texas or maybe New Mexico. Had a bunch of pictures on Webshots of his truck with a bunch of girls in the shots. I think it was a late seventies red and grey Supercab?

Rocky's truck is a nice ride, clean in and out. He's also made it into the low 13's with it. Expect it to be deep into the 12's next year.

78Stroker also swapped a psd into his 78 crew cab.

They both have pictures here in the TDS photo gallery but none of the pics on here are working today.

Re: 7.3 swap to 1974

I am on here about every day, I just don't post very often.
There are no swap kits available as far as I know. You will need to get the entire truck to help make the swap easier. You will also need to change the rearend, (vehicle speed sensor) so the computer can control the tranny. I think you will even need to use the speedo out of the newer truck, as the PSOM converts the vss signal from frequency to pulses before it goes to the PCM. It will be easier I think, to use the entire late model wiring harness. Send me a PM if you have any more questions.

Re: 7.3 swap to 1974

o wireing theres a few major companies out there you could buy for 300 each full wireing and relays with fusebox and all connectors unassembled for each truck then use the light connector for the 74 and the battery cables of the idi

and make sure to have 2 batteries (i know kinda obvious but just wanted to keep him safe)
