88 f250 engine swap

i have a 1988 f250 4x4 extended cab long bed i just bought. its a gasser but i want it to be a diesel. it sucks on gas and power. i would like to put a 7.3 turbo in it but not sure what all it would take. i did a small block swap to a big block swap in my 80 f250 and it turned out to be more work than i expected. what are some good places to find parts and the best combo of tranz engine and transfer case. how much will i have to stiffin up the front suspinsion. let me know what i need to do. thanks

You will need to find a donor truck to do the swap. You will need everything from the front seat forward to the grill except for the seat. The 7.3 turbo or Power Stroke engine is controlled by a computer from the throttle pedal out. You would be better off putting in a mechanical 5.9 Cummins. Check out Fordcummins.com and you'll see what is available.

oh dam. haha. thats something i didnt know. so what would you recomend trany wise for it? it has as standered and i would like to keep it that way. its a five speed to. that would be nice so i wouldn hae to change gears. are the 5.9s hard to come by for parts?
