99 f150 hesitation no start problems

hey guys my wife's 99 f150 is giving use trouble. it has the 5.4l motor has about 120k on it and the problem we are having is a week ago the truck started having a hesitation when taking off but when you get t higher rpm it goes away. well last night when she got out of work it would fire up and then stall. what you have to do now to start it is when you turn the key you have to push the gas down and make it rev up and then after that it will stay running. any idea's
