Adding Navigation to a Pioneer AVH-P6800DVD?

I've been doing dome searching and haven't managed to find what I need. I was wondering what I needed to buy to upgrade this Pioneer AVH-P6800DVD to navigation. The book talks about navigation, but it doesn't say what I need to buy. Any help would be great!

That link is for an AVIC which are naviagtion head units. The OP's unit is an AVH I dont think you can add GPS Navigation to those.

They do have Nav Traffic available for them, but that is an XM or Sirius option. Totally different than GPS.

Re: Adding Navigation to a Pioneer AVH-P6800DVD?

Actually the AVIC-88 in that link is NOT a Head Unit.

The AVIC-88 is a stand alone nav unit which just requires a monitor.

The OP has a AVH which is not a nav unit and wasn't meant to be. He should have bought a AVIC unit it he wanted nav.

The AVIC-88 can work with the AVH, BUT the touch screen function is not compatible with the AVH-6800 if I remember correctly, so it will be display only, and you have to use the stand alone remote.

I also think the AVIC-88 has been discontinued, and I am not sure if they have a replacement.

what you need to buy is one of this item, AVIC-N1, AVIC-88DVD, AVIC-80DVD, AVIC-90DVD and AVIC-9DVD, plus the maps on cd's CNDV-50MTP all of them are discontinued, their 4 or 5 years old so the only way is get it used, .... if you have AVG-DVP1 installed already you i'll have to take out because there's space for only one item ... i hope it help you !!!!!!!
