Question Bluetooth Cell Phone Question

Beginning in July, we will now longer be able to use a hand held cell phone in our trucks while driving in California.

I have been looking into Bluetooth devices to link with my cell phone and use it with the truck's radio.

I want a device that is hard wired into the truck...not a portable unit with batteries I have to recharge. I do not want to change out the stock head unit (radio).

Here is a unit I have been looking at and wondering if it will do the job for me:

Do any of you have this unit or have any other suggestions???

I live in the central valley of California, And have prepared for this law for a while. Everybody has their prefrence and I will tell you about mine..take it or leave it. Both my wife and I have Motorola Razr's and the Motorola H700 Bluetooth. We have had them for a little over a year and I can tell you the quality of the sound from that little ear piece is GREAT. I only have the bluetooth in my ear while I am in the car or truck driving. the charge lasts about 50 hrs. I was at work and talked to my son via bluetooth and the comversation lasted 4 hrs. my bluetooth was not dead a the end. I lost my bluetooth last month and upgraded to a new one with "double microphone" and noise cancelling.. Called the house and Wife thought I was in a tunnel with the windows down. took it back and now have my second H700. there are LOTS of generic bluetooth ear pieces that will link with just about any phone. It comes down to a matter of cost and convienence. With the set up you are talking about you have to divert your eyes form the road to "activate" a phone call. With mine you just press the middle of the thing and it starts itself. Of course our phones have voice dial and that makes it real easy. Goes something like this:
hit the button-phone says "say a command"
say-"name dial"
phone says -say the name
say-"home"
phone says- "home.....Calling".

incoming phone call the phone and bluetooth ring..hit the button and away you go! hit it again and it hangs up.

I hope you know that I am just giving you a suggestion. I do not endorse or sell any cell phone equipment..I just like mine casue sometimes I am talking to the kids (free mobile to mobile) and I can talk on the bluetooth i the house while I am answering questions here on the forums. It is not limited to just one vehicle.

Chuckster...........

Thanks for your reply!
But, an earpiece doesn't do it for me...I don't use the phone much in the truck and don't want to have to put an earpiece in each time I get into the truck just in case I may get a call or have to worry about the state of the charge in the bluetooth device.

I prefer the installed version so it works "automatically" for me and there is nothing I have to do except get into the truck.

I am in Cali also and I have yet to install my new Head Unit. A pioneer Avic D-3 with bluetooth. ( and many others bells and whistles...)
My input is the parrot mentioned above does not allow you to view incoming caller ID's. (nor do SOME Head Unit based BT adapters.) That is HUGE for me. I want to know who is calling before I pick up. I am in a business application. If my phone was strictly personal, I might not be as anal about caller ID...

My $.02
