As long as you are bringing over the complete diesel drive train ( engine AND transmission) you should be able to do the swap with a few modifications.
7.3 IDI is mechanical and doesn't need a computer to run, the Powerstroke is computer controlled.
An IDI with a turbo, and minor tweaks can make about the same power as the first gen. PSD. Since the PSD is computer controlled, you can use a performance chip or programmer for more power.
If you use the IDI, you only need power to the fuel shut off solenoid to make it run. The PSD will require the PCM and related components to run.
There are kits available, or if you can find a used one. Ford installed turbo's as an option in '93 and '94. Mine came with a turbo. Otherwise, if you have the ability and tools, you can build a system.
Hypermax and Banks are the only ones left that make a new kit I believe. ATS did the factory turbos using a Garrett turbo, but I have read here that they sold it all off.
i think i am going to take the 6.9 in my truck now and put it in the 4x4 truck. will the 2wd tranny attach to a transfer case or will i need to get a new tranny and a transfer case
