Couple of oil questions - Canadian related

Just wondering where you Canadians out there are picking your oil up. Would prefer to run Delo or Motorcraft. Walmart online shows neither.

Secondly, where does a guy pickup a ball valve to replace the drain bolt?

Thirdly, although I suppose a non-issue with a ball valve but, where in the world do you find a drain pan to hold 15L?

I'm not Canadian but do like Canadian beer and love "Corner Gas"....does that count? ;-) The oil does not show on their website but it is at the local stores as well as motorcraft and fram oil filters. Both the fram and motorcraft versions are from the same manufacturer so either is fine (fram is usually a little cheaper). They also have a 15qt drain pan. The drain valve is an internet item. Here is a link to their main website - FUMOTO ENGINEERING. Lastly, you should have gotten the winter grill cover from the dealer. If you have not make sure you do get one. I would imagine it is a must have in your nape of the world. If you are not near a walmart maybe you can call the website and make a special order. Unfortunately, oil is heavy so shipping tends to be expensive. Enjoy the new truck.

We'll make you an honorary Canadian! Too bad the Corner Gas run has come to an end.

This will be the second winter with the truck. They didn't offer the cover when I bought it so I had to shell out for stainless insert kit. A little bad blood between my dealer and I. When I bought the truck I pitched for the "free" oil changes to the tune of $1000.00. My last scheduled maintenance included the power steering flush and lubrication of the weather stripping and hinges, along with the usual oil change. They wanted north of $500.00 for the work. Told them forget it, just do the oil. It was then that I was informed of my obligation to have the shop perform ALL regular scheduled maintenance or the free oil changes would no longer be valid.

My fault, in my haste to drive away with the new truck, I failed to notice that nowhere on the bill of sale did it state that I purchased the oil changes. Apparently it's something that is offered free of charge with all new purchases, hence their ability to void the agreement should the owner perform any of the work themselves.

To say I'm pssed is an absolute understatement.

Regarding the drain valve, is the stock bolt magnetized? Is it a concern that the valve is not? And, any concern going with the nipple on the valve? I assume clearance won't be an issue?

Too bad, it is probably too late but maybe you can file a complain with your local Better Business Bureau and claim questionable business practices. In the end you will have to just say you paid more for the truck then you though you had...

I would always do the oil changes yourself. With the engine top mounted filter the oil change is easy. You do the oil change the exact way you did with the 6.0 (same filter and capacity). The center most cap is the oil filter the one that is forward and to the drivers side is the fuel filter (not the same filters as the 6.0) I don't think the valve is magnetic and i am not too sure it is really that important past the first couple oil changes. So i would almost not worry about it.

May be worth while pursuing as I only became aware of the tactic recently.

I owned a 6.0L previously and did the oil changes myself. Very simple process (just not when the temps are hovering around -30!). It's nice to hear they use the same oil filter at least. Is there a shelf life on the filter? I have one in the box that's pushing 2 years old now.
