Garage door opener timer

Wife and older son can not remember to close the garage door about half the time. They drive off and even come in and leave it up at all hours. Not only does it create a security issue, it also wastes heating and AC. Is there some kind of timer that can be added that will automatically close the door after a couple of minutes? It is a mid-range Genie .

Thanks,
Marc

Re: Garage door opener timer

Use a time delay relay that is activated when the garage door is opened, set your time delay (30 minutes) and then it closes the garage.

Does that go in the signal to close wire? That relay works off of 120v according to that page. Is the signal wire 120v? Just curious. I would like to get one.
