Gas tank sealant?

I fabbed up a gas for a sport bike/ quad project I am making. I made the tank out of steel and welded the seams. Now that I put gas in it I have found some leaks in spots I can no longer reach with a welder. Does anyone know of some kind of sealant that I could apply to areas inside the tank to take care of this?

Thanks,

-Rob

There is one or two types out there but I can't remember the names of them. I would go down to your local cycle shop and ask them. You poor it in the tank and then swirll the tank around to get coverage and then let it dry. It is made for gas tanks.

POR 15

POR-15 Inc.

PORPATCH-POR-15 Inc.

SUPER STARTER KIT-POR-15 Inc.

Works great, just read ALL the instructions. The other product is called Kream. Works good also, (or so I've been told) but has some nasty fumes whereas POR can be used inside without special ventilation.

I didn't know por15 would survive in gas....I guess it should, It stayed on my hands for a month. I have a gallon of por15, theoreticaly I can just use many coats of that instead of buying the tube of thick por15 right?

Its between that and some putty made by permatex for fixing leaky tanks. Should I just try coating the entire inside of the tank with POR15?

I've been running it in my gas tank of my Ural for over a year now. No Problems. If you go to their website, you can read a PDF of the instructions. It talks about leaks and what the normal stuff may or may not take care of. Besides being rusty, my tank had a small crack at the pet****. I used a little on the outside at the crack and then did the whole tank.

As for the whole tank, if it is metal, might as well do it and save yourself a clogged carb later.

It really went well and I highly recommend the tank kit. I've never used the putty, but i have a leaky oil pan and rear fuel tank on the truck and I'm thinking of trying the putty on both.
