help stopping small water leak

Need some ideas on stopping a small drip on a water filter I installed. I used teflon tape first and it leaked so I bought some teflon paste and it reduced it to a small drip. The filter is made of plastic and the connector I used is a galvanized fitting. Any ideas on what else I can use to stop this annoying problem? I tightened everything as tight as I can get them.

Generally, threads aren't designed to seal hose or pipe fittings whether it's a diesel engine, hyd system, or under the sink plumbing unless the threads are tapered pipe thread. Are you sure there isn't a rubber seal that goes on the end of one of the fittings? I just went through almost the same mess replacing a kitchen sink faucet sprayer and hose (standing on my head, unable to see). The replacement hose, which turned out to be wrong, was male 1/4" tapered pipe thread and I later (WAY later) found out the faucet fitting was not, I finally found a rubber seal/washer in the female end of the old hose assembly that was required.
