homeowners ins claim

last year, july 2, my house was hit by lightning, about 11k in damages structural, and electronics........

now, 4 other items, sony lcd tv, dishnetwork dvr, bose system, and spa control are all acting up/failing. all items less than 5 years old as of now.....

insurance co, now giving me run around with the above failures...

computer, modem, boiler controls, alarm system all blown up day of lightning strike, so isnt it possible that some minor damaged occured to other electronics that took time to fail completely ?

i remember seeing a company that "defends" insurance claimants for a fee when making claims........anyone know of this type of service ??

thanks !

Re: homeowners ins claim

It is possible but hard to prove. The Dish stuff is property of Dish so have them replace it.

Re: homeowners ins claim

me thinks you need to push hard on the ins co--i had the same thing happen--and they replaced some things that failed 6 months later--theres a term for it---and yes--things can fail later--as the elecs are partially damaged---

Re: homeowners ins claim

But after collecting, you may have to find another insurance company, which may not be so easy. Aint' right, but it is the way it is. Even if you win, you lose.

You only need two tools: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

Re: homeowners ins claim

i bought all my dishnetwork stuff, kinda of mistake, but contract free....

ins co is sending out electronics expert 6/28

bose has blown power supply, repairable for 280 bucks...not to bad.

still out about 4 k with tv and spa repairs.

found out weather related claims dont affect rates or insurability. but location does, seems ocean county nj is in wild fire zone.
