Internet problems

I'm having problems logging into my Yahoo home page and loging into My Ebay. When I try to login to both the computer says "waiting for reply". I'm running windows xp. Both problems started at same time and I haven't installed anything new. This is on my laptop running Sprint with a Sierra S590 wireless card.
I have full signal and am not having problems with any other sites where I have to login. I tried turning off my Norton to see if that would help but it didn't. Any help would be MUCH appreciated. THANKS

Re: Internet problems

On your internet browser, try going to the 'tools' menu, and then 'delete browsing history', and then delete 'temporary internet files'. Sometimes it will solve a situation that you described.

If that doesn't work, your next step would be to run a scan for spyware. If you don't have one, download Ad-Aware.

Next step would be to run your anti-virus program.

Re: Internet problems

I would do a system restore back to a date before the problem appeared but first do a disk cleanup by opening my computer/right click your harddrive/click on properties and run the disk cleanup utility that you will see under the blue and pink graphical image of your harddrive.
If you still are having problems after the disk cleanup then do the restore to an earlier time before the problem appeared.Ron G

Re: Internet problems

Sounds like just a connection problem. I will usually go in to the start menu, go to accessories, then to the command prompt. When is says c: type in "ping yahoo.com" if it comes back it will tell you. If it cant ping yahoo it will tell you there is a problem. That is how I tell wether its the computer side or the connection side.

Re: Internet problems

I had problems with my Verizon wireless card...
Talked to the tech rep, and we "Uninstalled"" it, and something else...
We then re-installed it....
It seemed to work a little better...but, finally just said the H**L with it, and we've got a home based DSL now...
Verizon was $60/mo, and the ATT dsl is part of package for ...$15/mo [?]

Re: Internet problems

One more thing about your experience....

HAVE YOU BLOCKED COOKIES FROM THEM????

Go to ""tools''....''Internet options'''....'''privacy'''....and then '''sites'''

And it will list all the sites that are allowed or blocked

Scroll down to find what it says, and adjust if necessary

Re: Internet problems

Sorry it took so long to get back.I had to pick up a trl in New Orleans Tues afternoon and just arrived in Albany,NY so I haven't had time till now to respond. The problem turned out to be the tower I was getting my signal from. Once I moved to a different area I was able to access both sites. Since this computer is used exclusively for the truck I have to use a data card. I appreciate all the help with this problem.THANKS.
