I've been wondering... how is diamondplate made?

Hey guys,
I've been wondering for a while how diamondplate is made. I've seen several kinds, some is obvious its just stamped (particularly the cheaper stuff). Particularly the aluminum one looks to have had some grinding done. I've searched online, but came up empty. If you can enlighten me that would be great.

But don't go by me, I have seen flat steel rolled!

I would imagine that it is rolled with a die, then touched up by a sander/grinder if wanted/needed.
