Does anyone know of any good resources for finding engine parts for a 1984 Ford Ranger with the 2.2L diesel engine? The end of the rocker shaft snapped off in addition to the front shaft mount. I went to the Ford dealership here in Claremore and got a parts diagram but they said both parts are obsolete.
Bone yards. I bet that is going to be a tough find. There may be some aftermarket options out there?

I found this with a search:
"Mitsubishi also brought in the Mighty Max diesel pickup in the early '80s. Dodge rebadged it as a D50 as well. The same engine was in the Ford Ranger diesel during the same time period both in a NA and Turbo version."
So if your engine was made by Mitsubishi, then maybe expand your search to the Mighty Max and D50 pickups?
I wore out a '79 Audi 5000S diesel, but I don't remember the diesel-powered little pickups around Denver back in the 1980s.
BTW, your old Ranger will be 25 years old next year. Then it will qualify for antique car tags in Texas.

I had a 1983 Mazda pick-up with a 2.2 diesel engine. Ford used to import the Mazda truck and rebadge it as a Ford Courier. I do not think the brought the diesel truck but maybe Ford used some Mazda components when they made the Ranger. Just a thought.

Also, the International Scout had a diesel version 4 cyl in the early 80's. A co-worker of mine had one. It couldn't get out of it's own way with a 100 foot lead, but he could get in the high 20's mpg running around in 4 wd. just my .02 cents worth

There were some Tempo's made that year with 2.2L diesel engines as well. You may want to check if they are the same engine.

Ok, since you didn't respond to sell me the truck I will help you out. :0) I just ordered that same part from the Mazda dealership in TUlsa last week for mine. You can also get parts through tractor dealerships and perkins diesel supply locations if you have the engine serial number. The engine was made under contract by Mazda for Perkins and is therefore just a Perkins engine. They were used in tractors and skid steer loaders also. Mazda said the support was absolete, but you should be able to locate it otherwise. If it is not completely broken just move it to the middle location and put a full support from there on the outside end. I hope this helps you out. But, I would still buy it if you are interested in selling.
