since i didnt see a off brand section i thought this was the best place to post the question.
a long time friend of mine is selling a oldsmobile aurora 2001 model for a dirt cheap price, it is a beautiful car but he says every once in a while a low oil pressure light will come on and the next bump you hit it goes back off.... so my first thought was a bad sending unit for the o.p. the motor does not nock, tick or nothing-runs just fine, its a daily driver for his wife and she is still driviing it. is there something else i should look for or just stay away???
It may be as simple as the connection on the oil sending unit on the side of the block, they are prone to swelling from the heat of the exaust manifolds. Or could just be oily and not making a good connection. Does he have any service records (oil change intervals) for the vehicle or does he do the work himself? You can pull the oil fill cap on the valve cover and take a small light to look down into the cover at the rocker arms and see if they are gummed up with sludge, pull the dip stick and check the condition of the oil or to see if it has any bluing from being hot. Just overall maintenance check to see if it has been maintained. Best bet may be to take it to a local mechanic shop and give it the once over.

Since both the V6 and the V8 use the same type of oil pump driven by the crankshaft ( like the PSD) then I would lean more towards the sensor or wiring being the problem
