Great advice.

I had Sprint when I was there and I believe it worked fine but I was on vacation so I don't remember.

Not having one would be a PIA as it would be nearly impossible to keep in contact with my BIL (who arranged the trip on his companies dime)as he is the General Contractor for a project currently underway there and needs to be on site, at least in the am each day. Without a phone it would be difficult to keep in touch with each other, even though we will be staying at the same place .
He has his obligations and I have my agenda
plus a construction project I am managing back here, although it will pretty much run itself but anyone who is in construction knows that there are a lot of slackers who will put off getting something done if they have the slightest chance usually because they are just to lazy to make a decision and I won't tolerate that at the expense of the customer.
Having a phone is a tool for me and it's all just a game anyway right?
Vacations for me are all pleasure and it is great just to get away. Whether I am here or here.

Re: Options for cell phone while on vacation in Puerto Rico

I have Sprint and in order to recieve and make calls from Cancun, I had to call an 800 number and have them activate international roaming. The rate was less than the rentals you were looking at, I want to say around .99 min. But rates are set by the host company and what they'll accept for roaming. I did not have to pay a fee to Sprint, but I did have to download some patch thing, prior to flying into Cancun.

There is no "nice" way to arrest a potentially dangerous, combative suspect. The police are our bodyguards...our hired guns. We pay them to do the dirty work of protecting us; the things we're too afraid, to unskilled or too civilized to do ourselves. We expect them to keep the bad guys out of our businesses, our cars and houses and out of our face. We want them to "take care of the problem."
