There is no "nice" way to arrest a potentially dangerous, combative suspect. The police are our bodyguards...our hired guns. We pay them to do the dirty work of protecting us; the things we're too afraid, to unskilled or too civilized to do ourselves. We expect them to keep the bad guys out of our businesses, our cars and houses and out of our face. We want them to "take care of the problem."
WE JUST DON'T WANT TO SEE HOW IT'S DONE.

I am a brand new member to this forum and have to take my 12 year old whippet in today for the injection that will end his life. He's been a sturdy animal, all of his health issues have been due to his prey drive. I thought my personal financial limit for vet bills was $2K, but when, at 8 years old, he shattered his front leg at the wrist ala the racehorse, Barbaro, I had the choice between amputation or fusing his leg. $5K and a year and a half of being in a cast later, he was fast and strong enough to catch jack rabbits.
I never regretted the money, though we barely had it. Now is different. Quick and unexpected on-set of liver disease, he will not get better no matter how much I could spend. He's trusted me all his life, so I will release him.
I've had a lifetime of dogs, but this one has been the dog of my lifetime.
I sat on the floor at the vet's and cried while I held my 2 year old Boxer "Bo" that had developed a genetic heart disease from which he could not recover and had to be put down.
I swore then I would never have another but today I have 6 Boxers including 3 puppies ("Tater", "Sampson", and "Buck") that I intend to keep out of a litter of 7
Two years ago I spent 1,100 dollars to have a mass of "gorilla glue" that one of my Boxers "Harley" had ingested removed from her stomach. I didn't ever think twice about the cost!
These dogs truly define unconditional love and I never intend to be without one as long as I am able to take care of it.

I'm with you, I was balling my eyes out too, I loved that little dog, she was always by my side, and boy did she love to go camping and boating. Just thinking of the time we spent together brings a BIG smile to my face.
I miss her, and I'm sure I will continue to for a long while.
