Planting a new grass need help with seed...?

After researching online and talking to a couple of local seed places, I am thinking about trying some Rhizomatous Tall Fescue of some type. I am not sure which brand or species to use so I was hoping you guys might have some suggestions or comments if you have used it. I will be overseeding an existing fescue lawn. I live in Roswell, NM and there is 3 dogs and 2 kids that usually play on it, if that helps with suggestions. Thank you very much for the help I really appreicate it.

William

Re: Planting a new grass need help with seed...?

used a fescue on my lawn, cant remember name, but given my poor soil condition, or should say lack of soil, even the drought resistant fescue suffers with lack of rain or watering every 3 days at longest. i ll look for guy i bought from, in oregon i believe.

Re: Planting a new grass need help with seed...?

I've wanted to try buffalo grass, described here. One of the reasons I would like to try it, is because is supposed to be greener and stay that way even in a dry summer.

This Deere publication is about low maintenance turf. RTF is discussed in the last paragraph.
