Reese Fold down gooseneck hitch

I am still kind of new about this but have learned so much from you guys.... hopefully you can help me more. I have a reese fod down goose neck in my truck, bought the truck used about a year ago, never used it. I can not figure out how to get it up for the life of me, I have sprayed PB blast in it, tried everything possible to get it up. My next step is to un-bolt it and try and heat it up with the torch. does anyone know how to get it up, how to get it unstuck, have a owner's manual for these hitches. Please help!

try this link

|| REESE PRODUCTS ||

This will get you to the REESE web site. then just click on products, then goosenecks then fold-down/remov-a-ball, then click on the fold-down and you can download the installation/use instructions.

At least now you know how to install it so you can uninstall it and figure out what is sticking. Good luck with it

That's a weird one. I have a Buyers Hide-a-Ball and previously had an Atwood Hide-a-Ball, and they both are designed exactly like the Reese I see on their website. After using both for over 20+ years (finally wore out the Atwood), I don't understand how one could be stuck, they get sloppier with age. When you pull up the top "ball lid", the gooseneck ball should easily start to rotate up. It's on a lower pivot pin which would be about impossible to "freeze" to due to rust or crud. I see by looking at the installation instructions, the Reese also has a Zerk fitting at the pivot pin like my Buyers, you might try hitting it with a grease gun, or is your problem a stuck lid?

The lid over the ball moves about an inch or two, it bumps up against the ball and just wont move, I have tried a 5lbs hammer and a peice of aluminum stock and it won't budge, I will look for the greese fitting to see if I can get it loose.

That, plus while you're underneath, if you can get a clear shot at it, use a hammer and a chisel as a wedge and drive the ball shank side to side on the pivot pin to initially break it loose.

Hey guys, thanks for all of the info, haven't got the chance to try all of them. I hurt my back stepping off the Combine ladder a little while ago and haven't been on here....sorry for the slow response. Hopefully I will be feeling up to looking at this again. Thanks again.
