I have seen aluminum and steel plated with titanium and it's tremendously durable, abrasion and corrosion wise. any idea how much this costs and where to get it done? I did the usual google searches and really found suppliers of titanium but not platers and as to price I'm lost. Thinking of plating high corrosion area parts on Motor Cycles.

Want to call? I'm in the book. Want to argue....First explain the square root of negative one....lol
If memory serves me right I think that you may be talking about Titanium Nitride (TiN)plating. Don't know if it is used on aluminum, but it is a coating for drill bits and other cutting tools. Might try a Google on it. Bob

I had a sizeable project for Seagate that they wished to try something that would wear better than the hardcoated aluminum. They decided to give Titanium nitriding a go.
Short story...the adhesion wasn't very good. See the base metal, in this case aluminum, isn't very hard. So any little dent in the surface would lead to a crack in the TIN, which lead to peeling of said coating.
