My hard drive camera is about full so I figure it is time to get these videos onto some DVD's. Does anyone have any recommendations on video editing software?
I am by no means a computer or video guru, but I can figure things out pretty quickly. I am not looking for the cheapest or anything top of the line, but rather the most bang for the buck.
I have a program called Studio 9 that my cousin gave me, but it is the most complicated thing to use and it wouldnt save any changes that I had made.
Thanks

Nero is also an excellent software package that will do what you are looking to do plus much more. It is by far the best burning software I have used so far.

You don't need an video editing program to transfer videos from your hard drive to a DVD.
To transfer your videos from your harddrive to a DVD use Windows Explorer [In WinXP usually found under Start, Programs, Accessories]
Open Windows Explorer
Click on My Computer
Click on the folder where you keep your videos
Click and drag the video files over to the Left and drop them onto the DVD icon [usually drive D or E, depending on how much hardware you have].
A separate transfer file will open and when you are finished building the file click on "ready to transfer" to transfer them to DVD.
As far as a good editing program Avid is very good but you need a server with a Raid Array set to 0, yes Zero, with (2) 500meg seagates and an external backup or; Mac has a very good one which I've heard to be better than Avid. Either way with software and hardware for either system your dropping at least 3k in coin.
On Edit: WinXP also has, or should have, Windows Movie Maker that provides you with editing ability, fades, titles, sound overlay, etc.
Nero is also an excellent software package that will do what you are looking to do plus much more. It is by far the best burning software I have used so far.
I agree with BigRed. Nero is a very robust product/software package. I haven't upgraded to V8 yet and am still running V7.10.1.2 Ultra Edition

My brain almost exploded trying to read that! Its quite a bit above my computer knowledge and skill level.
I have tried Windows Movie Maker and for some reason, it wont recognize my camera software. Nothing will import.
I do appreciate the response though.

Well, I figured I would try Windows Movie Maker anyway. I imported my files to it but all it plays is the audio. No picture at all. I cant even get it to play on the Windows Media Player.
Anyone know whats going on?

From your camera you download the video into a folder on you harddrive. Then you will open up Windows Movie Maker and import the video from that folder into WMM.
Once you import video in to WMM (which may take a couple of minutes) you have to click and drag the clip(s) into the Story Board at the bottom of the screen then you click on "save to my computer".
There are many choices as far as quality and size to save the video as. I generally save as "High quality video (large)".
The program for Mac is the one I mentioned earlier, Final Cut Pro. It's been the video editing software used on numerous very famous commercial movies. It's the only real reason I have a Mac (well, also Pro Tools), I use PC's for everything else. I made a hour and a half movie using Final Cut Pro with 100's of special effects. The Mac's native ability to stream digital video real-time through Firewire (in & out) is another plus. USB just doesn't cut it in the real world for that level of data, it always "glitches".
