Question What is a Bear re-curve bow worth?

Not 100% positive if this is the correct forum. Things have sure changed since the last time I posted.

I'm trying to find out how much my bow is worth for insurance coverage. The bow is a Bear re-curve, 62", 45# (as written on stock below serial number). The upper limb says Bear, Glass-Powered, Cub. There is a "Bear" coin laminated into the upper hand grip. On the lower limb, it has the, "Bear Archery Company" emblem, US pat's numbers, and then "Canada 1953".

I also have the original string, and 6 wood broad-head arrows (one is broken). I'm not sure the make on the arrows, but I believe they are Bear named also.

The bow came from my dad who bought it from a pawn shop in the late '50's or early '60's. I have not had much luck at the local sports shops for values, and most say it isn't worth naming for coverage. I guess a better question would be if I need to cover it for a specific value like we do for jewelry?

Would appreciate any input.

Bret

It is worth exactly what someone will give you and not one cent more.

I'ld check our Ebay or google it and see what you can come up with. I would imagine that it wouldn't be worth much more that $50-$100. Now if you dad used it to hunt with that would make it worth much more for you and nobody else.

holly crap, there are over 150 recurves on ebay right now. There are a few Cub's, a bunch of Kodiacs, and much more. Looks like final costs range between $50 (including shipping) and $150 (not including shipping) depending on condition. It suprises me that there wasn't this many a year or so ago, maybe hunting season in some areas already? There is also a leather bottom Bear quiver with three broad heads up for auction.

So, I'm assuming just noting what bow it is, serial number, etc. will be sufficient for insurance documents, no additional "antique", or "art works" additional coverage.

Thanks for the help bugman.....and you to LC
