Dealer to remove rear end (488) and send to ford special repair center . We have 4900 miles on truck and probally 80% of this is towing large gooseneck trailer. Also driver side mirror power out broken. In dash computer also is saying trailer wiring fault when truck is driven in reverse.
This truck isnt starting of to promising already had a new air filter installed as seems the vent allows snow to get in and plug causing a air filter fault code.
The air filter and snow is a problem with all three brands. You can find posts of the major forums. It depends a lot on conditions. You probably just got a bad axle setup. It happens.
Uh oh, that ain't good! Sure would appreciate your keeping us updated on what they discover the problems are.
how man miles did the truck have before you started towing w/ it?

Another missing fact, how much was being towed?
[/ QUOTE ]Everybody has Expected this Launch of this tk to be perfect. It aint gonna happen. There will be problems as with ANY other brand.Ford is on the ball if you ask me and are handling things very well.
Does it have a locker or limited slip? I've heard of those binding up while towing a trailer and breaking the rear axle. I've also seen what happens when you get an open diff truck stuck with a trailer attached, you can snap axle shafts.

I assume a limtedslip . and heck ya the rear end makes all kinds of binding noise from day one. Only when turning with trailer. Dealer said some binding noise is normal. Our 05 made some noise also just not as bad.
Its a S130L axle (limited slip)[ QUOTE ]

Not that it will end up having anything to do with it but when I read my owner's manual, it specifically stated to not tow any trailers before 1K miles.
This motor/tranny set up probably does not need it but why not listen to the advice of the FMC engineers?
Just my $.02.
