08 AutoTranny Question, Help - Diesel Forum

Is the 5 speed Torque Shift Auto Transmission on the 08 Super Duty F-250 suppose to go into Overdrive/5 gear if you push the Tow/Haul button?
It seems that all my previous Ford trucks always down shifted 1 gear into 4th gear when ever the Tow/Haul button was pushed in.
My 08 seems to hold the gears a little longer into higher RPM's before shifting but will eventually end up in 5th. Is this right?
I have a groan/vibration when my truck shifts into 5th/overdrive @ 55 mph with the motor turning 1500 rpms. Dealer says it a exhaust harmonic groan and they duplicated this groan on new truck off the lot. I say BS! My F250 has 4400 miles and this noise stared 500 miles ago. Anyone have any ideas?

TH mode is designed to hold gears longer giving more RPM range in each gear but it uses all five so you can and will end up in 5th. Engine breaking is the other facet of TH.

Not sure what the drone would be. Some early 6.0 trucks had some exh compnenets in strees. Loosening everything and retightening solved it.

On the exhaust groan i beleive i read on this site somewhere that the fix for that is with the truck on its wheels to loosen the exhaust pipe comming off the turbos and at the next clamp then tighten it back down... like it is bound up a bit it sounded. possible wiggling of said section b4 tightening back down.
