08 F250 Engine Surging and No Pedal

Did not see any posts on engine surging problems. 9 k miles on 08 F250. Twice in one week this thing has put me on the side of the road. Engine starts to surge (more bucking) and then no pedal. Push it to the floor engine stays at 1500 rpms. turn key off, no issues until I put it in drive. then wrench comes on and rpms go up.

First time, they replaced the computer. will see what the second go around is.

I am disappointed.

Kinda sounds like the chafed wiring harness issue on the 6.0's.

Any wiring harnesses look like they are rubbing?

It is problem with your DPF.Also might have used biodiesel with higher than 5 percent mix.Trust me ,It happened to me.If it starts to go into Regen, let it run its' course.I mean let it finish completely before you drive.

Re: 08 F250 Engine Surging and No Pedal

I'm having the same problem, but mine didn't restart. So after a 65 miles tow to the dealer I sit here and wait for an answer as to what the heck happened. Mine had all power loss at 1700 rpms before it threw the wrench icon up and then it would not start anymore. It was a fun treat on a coastal highway with one of my boats in tow when it failed

this is it's second trip to the dealer in 4.5 months. the first time was the 4wheel drive failed due to the wire from the dash switch where it connects to the transfer case under the truck, the wire rubbed on the front drive shaft causing it to short..Ford needs some serious QC with the 6.0 problems and now the 6.4 failing.. I think I forsee another new Dodge in my future..

Littlebigrig -scores a point - you are right on.

Just got the phone call from the dealer. WIRING LOOM PROBLEMS> the wire going into the cab was grounding out against the body causing the surge ect.

Re: 08 F250 Engine Surging and No Pedal

Update! It seems my fuel pump has failed. Now they have to remove the entire cab and front clip in order to get to the motor so they can break down the engine and replace the FP.
