'08 PowerScope Mirror Lights

This may be in the wrong place, but why are the marker lights on the Powerscope mirrors only visible from the front when illuminated, and the trun indicators only visible from the back when on.

I am sure someone can give me a logical reason and show me the big picture. I know that the signals need to be seen from the rear when towing, even with signals on the 5er, but why not from both directions with both marker lights and signals.

The marker lights need to be seen from the front, so that pedestrian you're about to clothesline with your extended mirror has a small chance of ducking in time.

The signal lights need to be visible towards the rear so you can TURN OFF YOUR BLINKER YOU FORGOT ABOUT, YOU OLD GOAT!

I guess it never occurred to them to shine the light any additional directions...

Re: '08 PowerScope Mirror Lights

My $.02, so take it for what it's worth...

I would assume that the marker lights are only visible from the front so that they are not in the drivers field of view for less annoyance at night, and the turn indicators only visible from the rear because no matter what you are towing, Ford assumes that from the front of the vehicle, your blinkers are always visible.

Thats all I could come up with.

Re: '08 PowerScope Mirror Lights

I found I couldn't see either marker or turn with the mirrors extended-- so the simple solution was to fold them in with the power fold feature and you can see every light. However this did pose a problem for seeing behind me.

Re: '08 PowerScope Mirror Lights

people behind you can see the blinker on the mirror when in use. If you turn one of your blinkers on and stand behind your truck you will see what I'm talking about but yes I agree that its frustrating not being able to see them from the drivers seat like I could on my old 03 Chevy

Re: '08 PowerScope Mirror Lights

I'm glad I don't see them blinking in the mirror, that would get old real quick.

Re: '08 PowerScope Mirror Lights

I think you and going north missed the point. I am talking about an oncoming vehicle does not see the signal when approaching the truck and a vehicle passing you at night does not see the marker light from the rear. It has nothing to do with what I am seeing from the seat.
