It seems like I read something awhile back that the TorqShift transmission for the 08's had some new upgrades/plates in it. Does anyone know about the changes and specifically why they where made? This is important to me as I had problems with an 05 Torqshift at about 28,000 miles.
Thanks,
Marc

From the file I downloaded that someone on this forum provided.
Transmission specifics:
*Torque converter design maximizes low-speed torque output
*All new more robust gear sets and a three-plate two-stage torque converter help reduce turbine noise when the converter is locked
*Large fluid pump provides superior lubrication and cooling
*Pure electronic shift controls work with the Electronic Throttle Control of the engine to optimize shifts and vehicle performance and responsiveness
*WhenHauling a heavy load or trailer, the Tow/Haul mode reduces gear hunting, improves power delivery and even uses engine braking to help control vehicle speed when descending hills
*Spin-on fluid filter for convenient serviceability
Transmission can be equipped with power takeoff port-must specify order code 62R (PTO obstructed by catalyst placement on 5.4 and 6.8 engines.
So seems quite a few improvements, not sure if these were on the '07's or not. My '04 Torqueshift has been great, no problems at all.

I'd have thought the transmission was totally electronically controlled by now. What aspect of it was not?

it is.
the way i see it the only differences is the new converter, and beefed up gearsets. it doesn't say that the pump is larger, just large. those other bullets are marketing hype.
doesn't bother me, though - i feel that the torqueshift is the best performing auto out there*. so don't fix what ain't broke.
*note: i haven't driven a new dodge 6spd.
