2 Questions

Still loving my '08 King Ranch. The grab handles in the '08 KR are not padded in KR leather like the ones on my '05.

1. Does anyone know if the handles are interchangeable? I'd like to get a set off an old junked one and replace the ones in the '08.

2. Do I need to wait for the glow plug light to go off before I start like on the 6.0? It doesn't seem to stay on long unless it is cold outside but I always wait out of habit. I didn't see anything in the 6.4 guide that came with the truck that mentioned it one way or another.

I think I read or heard it on the DVD that you should wait till the lite goes out. It's my first Diesel, so were getting used to it. It doesn't seem to take long here in AZ.

Yes you wait for the glow plug light to go out. It has quick heat glow plugs.

They changed the A-Pillers on the '08 models so no I do not believe the old grabs will fit.

Yeah, it's a good idea to wait. I have noticed that my new truck doesn't "ding, ding, ding" with the key in on position before I start it- I like that, but after 6 years of SD trucks, it seems odd. I have also noticed that this truck is nowhere near as sluggish when it's cold. Does anyone know if this engine requires the same care when running cold? I always try to keep RPM under 2K and boost under 10 psi until it warms up.

+1

I usually wait until almost all the check lights go out before cranking. This also allows the fuel system to pressurize up. It only takes a few extra seconds.

These things run better in the cold than the 7.3 and 6.0 because Ford finally ditched that HEUI crap. Those trucks relied on oil pressure to run the injectors, and oil doesn't move as well when it's cold.
