Alright, I'm seriously about to pull the trigger on a new f250 but I'm hearing some grumblings about problems with the 6.4. I know the gas mileage is horrendous....I don't particularly care about that. I just want to know that it's not gonna spend a ton of time in the shop. Yeah, I know I can use the search function, but I don't have the time right now. I'll check in later to see what the braintrust has to say.
I am sure the Ford diehards will hate me for this, but, mine has been in the shop ALOT!!!
It has 20K miles and has been towed once already, been in once for recalls, and has to go back again to fix more issues.
The bottom end power is nonexistant. You stab the throttle and it hardly gets out of it's own way from a dead stop.
Not to mention that the mileage is horrendous. 8-11 MPG is a joke and Ford doesn't seem interested in doing anything about it. The company I work for is not happy about their fleet of furds and this point.

28000 on mine and nothing but the radiator changed. Pulls my 5th like it's not there. Mileage towing i get 10.5-11.9 mixed flat and hills. with out towing town solid 12.5-13 freeway 17-18. beats the hell out of my 6.0. that had an avg of being in the shop twice a month since i buoght it new in 03 and i have the paper work to prove it. Hands down this has been the best truck i have owned to date. The milage can be better though. Just my experience.

I think I am smelling the same thing. Someone needs a new calculator.
I forgot to mention that my radiator cracked and the EGR cooler popped and pumped all the anti-freeze through the motor. I am pretty sure that isn't a good thing.

Pull the trigger, you will like the truck.. Fuel mileage could be better to be sure, I get ~ 10 pulling my fiver ~ 60mph in hilly territory...
I took mine in for the shutter from a dead stop issue, still have to do the seat weld recall.. I would do it again, 15k miles, pulls my fiver nicely and is a pleasent machine to drive. No other truck from any manufaturer is in the same league for comfort.
17-18....LOL now that's funny... With a 4x4 no less...LOL
Mine has the following problems.
The infamous ticking problem.
Poor Fuel mileage.
Shuttering.
Got towed once for a mystery problem.
Had it in for recalls.
I just posted my Fuel mileage pulling a camper all over the country in another post. In all types of terrain. People here tend to exaggerate the MPGS, makes them feel better.
i get 14 highway and 11 city, and last tow was about 9(total weight of 17K). And that is with my 37's
However, its been in the shop for 2 ps pumps, 1 rad, 2 oil leaks, 2 reflashes, 1 recall and a complete repaint.
It pulls like a train though, and rides awesome.
And about the lack of bottom end, that isnt the engine, its the tuning.

If anyone ever tells you they are getting better than 15MPG w/ this diesel and 3.73 gears under best conditions, blow them off. The earlier post that mileage is in the 11 city - 14 highway range is most accurrate. My computer stays in the 12.4 average range and I do not always baby it. Have said this, I like you do not necessarily care about the mileage as i knew that when I bought it. I love the truck and am a fanatic researcher. You should check out blueovalnews.com forums as well to learn more. This is the best truck I have ever had too. Obviously w/ a first model year launch they would have problems and I purchased truck serial no. 68 and took delivery Jan. 07. So at 27k miles my truck is a 1 1/2 old and have not had any problems but getting use to the re-gen crap. But all of you need to know there is a new PCM update that came out this week and need to have the computer "re-flashed" yet again and will improve "city" mileage. It is true the bottom end power is not the engine, it is the computer. My only current problem is I am about to order the 2009 King Ranch 250, and they no longer offer the Copper Color I have now and I am an orange freak and fan. But I want an 09 or 10 as those are the last years on the navistar 6.4L engine and may be a collectors edition one day. You should order or wait on the 09, they have made more improvements. You can se new changes buy downloading spec sheet on 09 250 fyi. good luck.
Well, I drove from southern WV down to Sunset Beach, NC Monday and averaged 17.1 all the way down. I set the cruise at 68 MPH. On the way back last night I averaged 16.4 all the way back up (up being the key word here). Conditions were pretty much the same on the trip back. This morning I drove to my Ford dealer in Beckley and had the latest and greatest flash installed. We'll see what happens.

2008 f350 front main seals, anyone having any issues with these? Well i would like to say that I am on my 3rd front main seal with 10k miles on the truck, as I type this it is back in the shop for the same leak #4 is what it looks like. I think lemon law proceedings may go into effect.

did the oil leaks look this? If so, my dealer replaced the front cover and oil pump. The front seal didnt fix it.
