Unhappy 2008 6.4 radiator leaking

2008 6.4 F350 that I purchased new. Truck has been great until recent radiator problem. Had about 48K miles on truck when radiator went out on a trip. Limped into ford dealer, he replaced the radiator. Bought extended warranty after paying for radiator. 3K miles later lower hose was leaking on radiator. Took to local dealer, he fixed. Ford would not warranty. Dealer is trying to help me. From what I have found out this seems to me a problem with the 2008 6.4 radiator going. Is there some place to go for unlisted recalls? or has anyone heard of Ford addressing this problem.

Hoses generally are not covered. They have also been updated to a 2 o-ring design.

You can go to ford's website or NHTSA.gov and check for recalls.

There are no outstanding ones for the radiator. You can, however report your issues there and then they become part of the record...then who knows.

I still have my original one.

I had the same issues too. First the radiator went - seam on the drivers side leaking. Then several thousand miles later - after noticing that coolant was disappearing found the lower hose was leaking so I paid to have both upper and lower hoses replaced.

These failures are contributed to an "Accountant Engineered" part failures.
Cheap design allows for failure and future parts business.

Appreciate the feedback. The double o-ring was the replacement for the lower just recently. I have had Ford pickups since the 80's. Had a 2002 F250 diesel that was a great truck, moved to the 2008 because wanted the crewcab. Just suprised that Ford was not addressing an issue that the more I dug into it the more I found out it was not oncommon. Was hoping to find that Ford was starting to address?

I have been checking the fluid level. Since lower hose replaced with double o-ring the level is down again. Only have put on about 1000 miles since replacement. Have not noticed any fluid marks under engine. Other than taking in for service is there anything else I should be checking. Radiator replaced about 4Kmiles, lower hose about 1K miles. Getting ready for long trip in Nov. don't want a breakdown while on the road.

When mine died at 108000 miles I called the toll free # and told them they know they have a crap radiator and they need to step up.

20 minutes later they called dealer and said the radiator was covered. I paid the labor.

there is also a link here somewhere to a radiator with lifetime warranty

Thanks for the input. Should have called, but was stuck on the road when radiator went out. Decided to take into Ford dealership today, they are doing pressure test. Upper and lower rad hoses replaced. I have been watching overflow. Had dropped about 1-2 inches in 600 miles.

I was 500 miles away on vacation with an 18000# 5th wheel.

The toll free number is on the back of the plastic card you got in the mail that has your name and VIN# on the front.
