2008 cruise control

How Is the cruise control on the new trucks. Does it do a better job at staying the same speed? Better than 05-07 models.

Re: 2008 cruise control

I've had no issues, seems to be within 1 or 2 mph. Can't compare with old one, though.

Never had a problem with our '99.5 cruise control nailing the set mph either.....but then again, we've never put it in the same catagory as balancing our checkbook.

Re: 2008 cruise control

Its not that it won't stay the same speed.I'll give you an idea of what i'm talking about. Lets say your pulling a load over rolling hills my truck will drop 3 to 4 mph, downshift, then over run my set speed by 3 to 4 mph, then settle back to the correct speed. Its like it doesn't react soon enough. In my mind the turbo should sense the dropping speed and give a little more boost instead of downshifting so soon. I used to have a 99 model 7.3 with handshaker. I never had to grab a gear in cruise. The turbo just spooled up and she went.

Re: 2008 cruise control

Check the trucks in my sig. The 7.3 handled low-rpm loads better than the 6.0. That's why your 7.3 spooled up and pulled well with the cruise on in high gear- mine did, too. My '05 is very unhappy pulling anything heavy w/o enough rpm. That's why the autos downshift so often when pulling. I, as well as alot of potential repeat Ford PSD customers, hope that the new engine will not have the same problem. We'll see...
