2008 F-350 CC SB In For Service

Well, this is my first Ford F-Series Truck. The truck is a monster and I love it. The only problem is, I am not too fond of Ford's Service at the moment.

Here is what is wrong with my truck:
Cracked DPF (smoking like a champ)
Drivers Side Electric Window Motor missing a tooth off a gear(can hear it skip)
AC needs to be re-charged or whatever.

Since I only have 3000 miles on it and winter was coming, I figured I would at least get it in there to get the AC fixed before they claimed it under "Routine Maintenance".

So I call the Ford Dealership, and tell them the issues.. Ok, no problem, bring it down and drop it off.. Fine, I drop it off Sunday night.. No call Monday or Tuesday..So I call them Wednesday.. I am sorry sir, your truck has not even been looked at yet? WHAT? I pay 50K+ for a truck and it is still sitting outside the shop?? Yes sir, we are very backed up at the moment. Ok, will you at least have it in the shop tomorrow (wednesday) to look at it.. Yes sir, we will call you tomorrow.. Wednesday comes and goes.. I call Thursday, same crap. blah blah will have it in the shop Friday.. call you tomorrow. Friday night comes and they call. Sir, we still have not had a chance to get it in the shop, the soonest we can even get it in the shop is NEXT Thursday.. WHAAAAAT? Needless to say, I took my blood pressure pills and went to pickup the truck.
5 days without my truck.. HELLO, small problem.

So I take it to another dealer today and we shall see what happens..

You made the right move by taking it to a new dealer,if the dealer it was at was lying to you about just getting it looked at,it certainly was not going to get better from there,good luck.

Man, that does suck. It almost sounds like they were trying to piss you off so you would go to another dealer and they wouldn't have to change your DPF.

Make sure you get a customer comment card from them...or go directly to mother Ford with your story. Good luck at the next place.

The good news is I have all the problems on a service ticket with the timestamp in and timestamp out as well as all the issues listed. I am waiting for the survey to come in the mail.

It's 2:30, and I am getting nervous.. no call from dealer #2.

I just hope when they decide that the DPF is getting replaced that they fix the other issues than let you have the truck back while they wait for a new DPF, there have been reports here of it taking weeks to get the new DPF.

Ok guys.. just got the call from dealer #2... It's fixed! (crossing fingers).

Issue: DPF- Apparantly they are stating the DPF was not cracked.. it just needed to be reprogrammed (I know, I know, it is probably still cracked, but let me give them the benefit of the doubt).

Issue: Window: Fixed. something was off track.

Issue: AC - Ford is working on a computer fix for this.. apparently it is a known issue. I have it on record now, so not really too concerned.

So, 5 hours at one dealer.. 5 days at another.. and I am going to get my truck back!!

SWEET.

Will post updates on DPF after I pick it up.. It was smoking bad when I gunned it.. so I will know immediately if the reprogram fixed it.

Great News! Now you know which dealer to go to from now on..

Mine has some soot on the tailpipe, though not smoking. Dealer said it was from too much fuel and they did a reprogram, oil change, etc. Pipe still gets sooty, though my mileage went up about .5 in town, but they claim DPF is not cracked either. I specifically asked them to check it and I am sure they would have changed it had it been defective.
I also used to have issues with service on other Fords, (04 F150 and 00 X) until I found my current dealer. Definitely pays to check around if you are getting the runaround.

Normally i wouldnt say anything, but i must.
Do you honestly think that just because you paid more for your truck, than some of the other rigs there, yours is more important? I mean seriously. When you call a dealer, to bring your bring in, you should always set up a specific time to drop it off, and ask them when you can expect it back. That gives you something to hold them too.

You obviously did not read my post correctly. My appointment was for Monday to drop it off, I was a nice guy and dropped it off Sunday. I don't care if I pay 50K or 500K for something, I at least expect to be treated like a customer. Without customers, there is no Ford business to speak of.

Update on DPF issue. Still blowing black smoke.. at first they said it was normal..(which it is not). Then they stated that it might take a few days to get all of the excess fuel out of the exhaust(I know, I laughed too..). At any rate he told me ALL 6.4's smoke and he would prove it to me. Needless to say, he went inside and got a new set of keys for a 2008 Job 2 F-350. He started it up and said, watch this.. Well, needless to say after 10 minutes of him trying to get it to smoke it would not..

He hopped out of the truck and said you were right. Didn't realize that the new ones didn't smoke. He said he would call me tomorrow after talking to Ford.

i read your post just fine, what i meant was, and this is how my service department works. i am given a specific time to drop off my rig, and tell me when i can expect to see it, or if they dont know what is wrong, then they tell me when i can expect and update.

Dealer saying "All 6.4's smoke." Now that is the limit. lol Do they even know anything about what they're working on???
