2008 F250 Diesel in VA - Awesome! - Diesel Forum

Saw my first one today in Norfolk, VA. A blue 4x4 SB. Totally surprised me as I was just driving by to get some late night food. One thought...awesome. Was able to sit in it for about 1 minute as they were closing. Too bad I fly back home to CA first thing tomorrow otherwise I would be test driving tomorrow. Hopefully they start showing up on the west coast in 5 or 6 more days.

Just wanted to let people know they are starting to show on the east coast.

I have not seen one here on the lot in DFW Texas yet.

I do go every Sunday (when they are closed and no salesman to bother you) to look around and peek into the showroom.

If I dont see one here soon Iam sure I will see one mid February at the new car show. Cant wait.

I saw one at a dealer here in southeast mi. It had a 5.4 in it though. starting to grow on me. My buddy that works there said he had a 450 there with the 6.4 and said it was almost too quiet.

The truck felt smoother on the road, especially the front end. The rear got twitchy like normal going over a wavy, washboard section of road.

The engine is quiet throughout the RPM range. I had to pay more attention to the engine at idle to hear the faint diesel engine clatter to know it was a diesel engine. There definitely is no loud diesel engine clatter like I'm used to hearing on my 2004 at speed or under acceleration.

No turbo whistle heard on the road test, including a short wide open throttle run. I told the salesman that I don't like the truck [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif[/img] The engine doesn't announce itself like my 2004 engine that it is under the hood and capable of doing real work. And, besides, all turbo diesels have to whistle.

Overall, I'm impressed after my short drive. Too bad I can't afford this truck even with trade in.
