2008 frame & 5th Wheel Hitch

A 2008 6.4 CC DRW is in my near future.

Does anyone know if there are differences in the frame that would require new or different mounting brackets to install a 5th wheel hitch?

According to the DrawTite webpage, the custom mounting brackets part number is the same for the 2005-2007 as well as the 2008. These are for a 250/350 pickup, NOT A CHASSIS CAB. Part Number 50049. Check the link below.

Reese show the same information.... same bracket for the 05-07 & 08. I'm excited that they offer this option now. The didn't when I installed my last hitch...... I'm going for the Reese 18K signature series this this time with the underbed rail system!

Re: 2008 frame & 5th Wheel Hitch

I mayv be wrong, but it is my understanding that the frame from the rear of the cab is the same for the F-350 and F-450. That way, no changes are needed for the hitch.

The frame is wider from the cab forward for the F-450.

Does anyone know if this is correct?

I know that B&W said their turn over ball will be available for the 2008s to include the 450.

Re: 2008 frame & 5th Wheel Hitch

For those that have installed the Reese Underbed rails on a Ford, how difficult did you find it to be? Did you loosen the bed or bend the metal work to get the rails underneath? By the installation directions I see you can do either. If you had to do it all over again, would you get them and install the same way?

I will be installing on my 2008 F350 and bet I will be pretty nervous when I have to drill those 4 holes.

Thanks,
Getrdun

Re: 2008 frame & 5th Wheel Hitch

I haven't installed one yet... but I plan on removing the bed from the truck and installing the rails.... while the bed is off I'm going to "harpoon mod" it. Then they have a pointed bolt that you run up from the mount to mark the bed for drilling..... should be pretty straight forward.
