6.4L Power Stroke Engine and DrivetrainDiscussion of the 6.4L Power Stroke diesel engine and drivetrain in the 2008-Up Super Duty trucks. No gas engine discussion allowed except on transmissions and drivetrain that pertain to all models. Please confine discussion of topics in this forum to those items that are specific to the 6.4L Power Stroke engine.
The rumors I have heard are that the HP wars are definetly over between the big 3 and it's all going to be about torque now, which in my opinion is best for all. I'd guess that the HP rating of the 6.4L PSD is going to be in the low 300's, possibly less that the 6.0L PSD put torque rating will be in the mid to high 600's.
AHHHHHH HAAAAHHAAAAA I like this one. I love all the responses to this thread. It is so funny what people think. I so surprised at how much people don't know. Good one little bro. Maybe he was thinking 550 torque. Come to think of it that sounds pretty sweet. If they had an almost completely flat torque curve at 550, they'd be making about 350 HP at around 3,300 RPM. Who knows .
Maybe they'll take the power ratings down and just ride on the slogan of clean diesel. They might up the torque rating and ride on that. What would be cool is if they'd raise both and blow everyone out of the water with a clean diesel producing 400+ HP and 700+ Torque.
They Don't have much choice but to make them very clean... Wait till '010

I've been saying this for awhile now, but personally I'd love to see the following performance numbers:
275hp
550tq
25mpg hwy
Those numbers should be easily attainable and just think of all the oil we'd be saving in the long run, not to mention less pollution due to less petroleum needed from start to finish.
In any case, I think this next Super Duty will be a resounding success.

Those are the exact numbers I would like to see. HP and TQ is nice, but my '02 250HP/525TQ (believe those are the numbers) are more than enough. If the truck could get 25mgp +-, then I wouldn't mind those numbers one bit.
Well I think I'll put $500 on my insight. What about you? I'm not saying you don't know anything. It's just I work for a large International dealer and Bobby Williams works for a very large Ford dealership and we are both on the same page. Hell, if the 6.4 #'s are more than the Duramax, I'll even kiss that $500 just before mailing it to you. I don't have any problem admitting when I'm wrong. If I'm wrong I'll make good. On the other hand, you act like you know something the rest of the world doesn't know. Usually this scenario ends up being the one wrong because it's usually just speculation. Now, if you think you know something that some of us better-informed people do, by all means, lay it out so I don't have to hold on this $500 for much longer. Show your cards.

One thing about a higher torque and HP is that an engine does not always output that amount (it varies with throttle posistion of course). So polution, under normal driving and towing, can be reduced while still allowing a high HP and Torque number for those times when you really need/want to get up and go fast, or pull alot of weight up a steep hill.

Perhaps I am greedy, but my '02 is also the 250/525 and I want a little more. While towing 6-8K, on the four lane in the Mts of WV, I would like to be able to maintain 65mph with a little pedal to spare.
