Hello all happy holidays,
I am thinking about trading in my 08 5.4 f250 in for a new diesel. Is there anything I should know before I dive into one?? Is there any must have? Rapid heat?? are the 10's better than the 09's??
Must have's would be: Tow package, includes TBC and towing mirrors. Since you live in CT. Make sure it has the cord for the eng heater. Element is already there just make sure the cord is.
They should also provide a Grille cover for the cold weather. Rapid heat I hear is a nice touch, I don't have it myself.
don't for get 4x4...make it manual if you can.

The rapid heat does not do much. Waste of money. The heated seats are nice. 4x4 LS rear. Traction control. Dual altenators, snow plow sounds nice. You'll love the 6.4.

I wasn't impressed by the Rapid Heat at first either, but if you manually turn the fan to med or med-high, you'll have warm air coming out of the vents in about 1 1/2 minutes after starting. If you put the fan on high, the air won't have time to absorb any heat from the element, and if you leave it on low (or auto in the Lariat) you won't even feel the warm air. I went my whole first winter without using it properly.
I just purchased a new FX4 F350 CC 4x4 Lariat. I have nothing but good things to say about it. Oh, I suppose if I wanted I could find something to complain about. But for the most part this is the finest truck I have ever owned. It has 4000K on it in just a little over a months time. I expect it to pull my 30' RV, my 6 horse trailer, haul wood, dead animals and do it all with style and power to spare. So far, Henry is a stud. Since Dodge and GM have sold out to the government I have decided to put my money in Ford. I will never again buy from one of the others. That I know is an ideological statement and should have nothing to do with the truck. But it is none the less a factor in my purchase. I hope this helps.
