23.4 Mpg .... Wow!

13000 on truck. Went in for its second oil change today and the venturi T and fuel filter. Had em put fully synthetic in it.

Driving the 20 miles back home ... reset the computer and had 23.4 MPG at my gate. That's in some rolling hills where I run down the steeper ones and jog up. Mostly level or levelish but for 4 or 5 of the total. I have 430 rear end so have to keep it at 60 which is about 1850 on tach to get this mileage.

I don't want to rain on your parade, but you are claiming this over 20 miles? And you are getting this from your overhead display?
The only somewhat accurate way to calculate mpg is over several fillups (hundreds of miles), using your odometer readings and gallons pumped.

I have a 4.10 rear-end and at 60 I'm doing 1850. If you have 4.30's you should be a little over 100 rpm higher than what I'm running!!!

when the dealerr did the tee, syn, etc he probably did a reflash. Mine did. my message center said I was getting 18 or so around town with lot's of hills here in NH.

After it settled in it went back to same old lousy mileage. your's will too.

OK I'll try to answer all:

I believe in the computer in these trucks. I've checked mine against manual calculation and its dead on. The reading I reported is of course by the trucks computer.

I'm not saying anything other than what I reported. The truck seems to be getting better mileage due to the synthetic oil. I was getting 19 and 20 before on level ground or gently rolling hills. If I'm feeling cheap sometimes I don't even drive over 55.

I did not have a reflash. I specifically forbid them from doing one.

As to the tach numbers ... I was probably doing 58 or 59 and the actual exact tach could have been 1900. It was just to the left of 2000.

This truck has never gotten lousy mileage. Don't do much town driving but even when I do my average over a tankful is 17 with about half and half town vs hwy.

I got 15.5 hand calculated on a run from Memphis to Cartersville, GA running on US72 across MS and AL to I-24 & I-75. I am currently at 3800 miles.

23.4 MPG?? The computer takes about 50+ miles to settle down. I could never get over 20 on the old 6.0L.

I noticed mine shoots up to ~20 MPG when its reset. Every time I fill up, I reset, and for the first 20-30 miles, it fluctuates. By the time I'm about 50-75 miles into the tank, it will settle to anywhere between 13 and 15.5 MPG.

I keep a fuel log. For the first few tanks of gas, I got 10.5-12.4 MPG. Today, at almost 9500 miles, I'm getting between 13.5 and 15.2 MPG.

So ... are you getting 20+ MPG? Not likely when everyone else is getting more than a few less.

Well I did 200 miles today ... all kinds of driving. No more than 2/3 highway and I was on the frontage roads a lot looking at RVs. Averaged 18 mpg. I never put my foot in it. I drive like an old limo driver with the Pope in the back. I never run it over 2 grand.

2008 f250 getting on average 14mpg. 4000 miles all city. Will travel Boston to Buffalo NY this week straight shot on the 90 about 450 miles. Will see what the real mileage is. Had a retrac rolling cover installed, will see if this improves anything. Mileage is all calculated by fill up and usage. The computer I see the same thing on fill ups. I reset a the station and it tells me 19 to 20 mpg. no way....

I got 75mpg once. It was a 20 mile stretch in my 2004 6.0. The 20 mile stretch was coming down off the beartooth pass......

Try this trick to equalize your mileage... Tow an 8000 lb. trailer and reset the lie-o-meter when you fill up. For the next 100 or so miles you should see a massive 7 or 8 mpg!!!

I towed a empty 2 place enclosed Vnose all aluminum trailer and only got 9.5 on the Interstate yesterday for 500miles..That's all I've ever gotten in cooler temps here. Summer I get 10.5 the most.
