Re: 350 with a 4:10 rear end MPG?

I've got 17,000 miles on mine and get about 13 mpg during city/hwy driving. Towing a 14,000 fifth wheel, i get around 8 to 9 mpg at highway speeds of 65 to 70 mph.

Re: 350 with a 4:10 rear end MPG?

I use a light foot 60-62 around town... 65-68 towing. That way people get a real good look at the best looking truck built to date. It's still a head turner.

Re: 350 with a 4:10 rear end MPG?

pecouvillion and phxvalkry, you are doing better than me with a F250 and a 3.73

I drove a dually for 2 days and could only get 10 around town if I babied it, almost bought it too, but the mileage scared me that and I didnt need a dually, but it sure was nice

Re: 350 with a 4:10 rear end MPG?

I'm getting between 13 and 13.5 mpg unloaded and 10 to 11 mpg hauling my 4 horse trailer. Not the best, but better than my old Dodge 3500 dually with a V10. Never got more than 10 mpg unloaded and 7 mpg hauling horses. I'll take my 30% increase any day.

Re: 350 with a 4:10 rear end MPG?

First two tanks unloaded 11.09 MPG and 11.58 MPG; third tank was 50/50 city/hw with about 50-60 miles pulling just under 14,000 lb fifth wheel, that tank ended up at 9.34 MPG (was indicating 9.6 when we dropped RV but after some normal driving back to indicating 9.8)

Couple days later with just filled tank pulled fifth wheel back home and dash was indicating 6.6 MPG until just before I got off of interstate at which point it dropped to 6.4. Took off from stop sign and it sounded like a loud air blower from exhaust; stopped and put it in park and it idled up as it was in regen. Regen quit by time we got to our storage location; it was still on 6.4 MPG. Same tank w/o fillup after couple days driving is back up to 9.8 MPG indicated.

I reset MPG at each fill-up
First tank:
11.1 indicated; 11.09 actual
second tank:
11.8 indicated; 11.58 actual
third tank:
9.8 indicated; 9.34 actual

I had high head winds going both ways. I think it went into regen on the initial trip with the RV because at one point it would not do much over 70 MPH up slight incline with the pedal to the floor (did not downshift).

It is going into regen at least once every tank (confirmed at idle) and sometimes I believe it has been twice per tank.

The tail pipe is clean as new.

My 06 would get 10's pulling same RV.

I am using DieselKleen fuel additive too.

Love the truck but hope the MPG improves; time will tell.

Will have longer RV trip from OKC to Ft Worth area in little over week for NASCAR weekend at TMS. We'll see how she does then.

Bob

I've got a 4X4 dually long bed crew cab (weighs just shy of 9,000 lbs) and I'm getting 10-ish towing a 10,000 lb fiver and 10-ish empty on surface streets and 12-ish empty on the highway at 70 MPH

Re: 350 with a 4:10 rear end MPG?

I wouldn't care what the mileage was, if I could have gotten the 4:10 on my SRW, the truck would have been perfect.
That is the perfect power combo IMHO.

I had that set up on my last two trucks, and loved it.

Re: 350 with a 4:10 rear end MPG?

Swampy,

If you look at my signature, you will see that I have the 4x2 version of that truck. Bought it on 12 Oct 07. I have 670 miles on it and my first trip was to Pennsylvania. On the tank the dealer filled, I avereged 16.8 going to PA from Southern MD. On the way back I averaged 17.3. I noticed driving in the D.C. traffic, I take a hit on the milage and average about 15 mpg. Love the truck so far. Big difference from my '03, F-350 Dually. Sold it with only 14K. To many problems with the engine.
