4-2008 psd's sitting at dealership w/service tags in windows? - Diesel Forum

I have been contemplating getting a new super duty as i have always had fords (until present) and miss it. However I was waiting a bit to see what kind of problems they do or don't have and if the mileage ever increases on them.

Today i strolled through the local dealership to see what they had on the lot, and drove around back to see if their were any more new ones back their, and noticed 4 new super duty's (all diesel) with service tags hanging on the rear view mirrors (three of which were out of staters). I thought the new ones were pretty good, i am used to seeing a boat load of 6.0's sitting back their, but haven't seen many 6.4's back their until recently, are they having issues?? If so what issues?

Kinda gun shy after after my 03 6.0 disaster Probably won't do anything until spring at this point when i will be needing another truck, hopefully incentives will go up? Thanks for your input.

Only way to know would have been to ask the dealership they were at.

Not a whole load of problems on this site reported.

if you read around, there arent alot of issues. I think i have the cam sensor oil leak, but its just a gasket. Goes in on monday. Otherwise, no issues.

When I was at my dealer last week, I asked him how many 6.4's had come in with problems,he said he had only seen 4 come in & three of those were Radiator leaks.He said so far not near as many problems as the 6.0's when they were first launched.I have been buying trucks & SUV's from this same dealer for 12 years & they seem to be straight shooter's Info wise.

Doubt if they were in for a quick lube oil change. Most dealers advertise they can do it in 29 minutes or less.

Doubt it was very serious either since they were just "parked" out back with service tags in them.

5000 miles, only issue was a bad wiring harness for the trailer electrical connection. It was flashing "trailer wiring fault" on my display when towing. Other than that she's bullet proof and I drive it like I stole it.

Good to hear that they are going strong for you guys, like i said i really want to get one come spring if things work as planned. I was a little worried after driving through the dealership though and seeing 4 new 08's sitting their waiting to be worked on.

I don't know how you can say you doubt it is very serious, as this particular dealership is always behind on diesel work. I would imagine it's not just for a loose screw here and their, as 3 of them had out of state plates on them. Seems to me it would be fairly serious if you didn't just wait until you get home to get it fixed. Just my .02.

As dumb as it sounds, why not just call the dealer tomorrow and ask them what the 6.4's are doing there? Thats what I would do if I were you. Were only going to be guessing on here, you know.

I don't think you can read too much into seeing them parked in the service area. I need to get an extra door remote for my truck and it will take a couple hours in service to get it done. This isn't any fault of the truck.

The dealership would know more about those 4 trucks than we would...call them if you're that curious.

They could be there for detailing, getting them ready for delivery, just call the dealer and let us know.

I will try and call today and see if i can find out, I wasn't really asking what was wrong with thest particular trucks, i was asking what problems any of you guys on here have encountered. It's not to hard to figure out if i wanted to know what was wrong with those trucks, to stop in or call them!!
