4.30 gears to 3.73?

I have a 2008 F450 CC/LB with 4.30 gears. I use it as a daily driver. Also tow once a month to once every other month. I was thinking about changing it to 3.73 gears. Would this be worth doing? It would drop my RPMs around 400 I think. I have a F350 with 3.55 gears and I'm running about 500 RPMs lower.
Thanks! Matt

If you want, you can also go with bigger tires. If you install 35's it should bring you to stock tire and 3:73

Just another option

2wd or 4wd? Lots of diff in cost. As yan7gin said, have you considered 245 x 19.5 tires. 265s may fit also.
And if I did the math right, that is a 13% dif in gear ratio. If you were to achieve a 13% increase in mpg, at $2.50/gal diesel, you would use 9.7gal less on a 1000 mile trip, for a $24.25 savings on fuel. How many miles do you drive in a year and what would be the cost of a change out?
But, a complete changeout of tires could easily be $1800 or more with a good tire, and not sure you should run 265s on the stock rims.

Thanks for the replys! I have thought about tires. I currently have 245×70 R19.5s. It is a 4WD but I can get a set of 3.73 for the front from a buddy for almost nothing. I would say anywhere from 40,000 to 60,000 miles a year. Depending where I'm working and how much I haul. I'm not sure if 265s would work on stock wheels either. I have seen a guy running 285s on stock wheels though. I don't know how good of a idea that is.

I drive my 450 about 40000/year--getting about 14 on highway, 12 in town solo.
