40,000 on the order books

Sounds like Ford is selling a bunch off the new trucks already. They already have 40,000 on the order books. Pretty impressive. Looks like a excellent year for F-series is on tap.

Re: 40,000 on the order books

If they don't quit playing games and pushing back the release dates it just means 40,000 more pissed off customers?
Personnaly I could not wait for the 08's so I bought an 07 and will pray for the best. If I had ordered the 08 and was told I would see it mid January and I was still waiting I would not be a very happy customer. So when this thing finally does hit the show rooms it better be all it was suppost to be and more, or you will see those #'s go in the tank.JMO

Thanks, that is a pretty good read. Wonder how many of the orders are commercial (not fleet, since they are dealer orders)? Probably hard to tell. I know the utility companies buy those things like candy around here. Hundreds of them a year from local dealers.

Exactly, that's less than the monthly average last year. You would expect the first month of a new model to generate more dealer orders than the previous monthly average.

You've got a lot of loyal Ford owners. Ford hasn't had a SD that they were satisfied with for 4 years. They are foaming at the mouth for a good one. But you can still divide that number by at least 5. I've looked at the site several times myself.

I believe him, but 40K is not an impressive number. In fact, it's horrible. Consider that all of the dealers have ordered light SD inventory for the 07'MY in anticipation of the 08' hitting the lots a few short months after the 07's hit the ground..
Look, I've been a Ford owner for the last 8 years. Right now, I wouldn't touch one with a 10 foot pole.

When Ford and Navistar are at odds at this point of a new vehicle launch, it tells me that this project is disorganized at best, and that there simply in no communication between the two parties. Isn't that what downed the 6.0L?
Given the fact that the competition are also launching a more tired and true version of their cleaner diesel, Ford better be on it's game or this may be the beginning of the end for Ford Motor Company as we know it. It is surely starting extremely poorly with Nav's lawsuit.

I see Ford falling flat on it's face within the next few years with GM right behind them. Not because the product is bad, but rather they can no longer stay viable and compete, while their mistakes and disorganization is catching up..
The years of funding pensions and health insurance has cut deeply into their R&D, and it's REALLY starting to show.

I really like the new Ford, but it's probably the most dated vehicle in their line up. The little interior spruce-up is nice, but it kinda ends there.

Most web site stat trackers do a decent job of taking that kind of thing into account, if you ask them to. "Unique visitors" is usually how they state it. So the numbers are never perfect, but they're usually a lot closer than being off by a factor of 5!
