I was hoping someone could give some insight on a potential problem I am having with my 6.4. It now has 4500 miles on it and about 4 times in the past 2000 miles it felt as though it has a miss to it. If I take and really get on it the miss clears up and the truck seems to run better than it did before the miss. I am calling it a miss because with this being my first diesel it is the only thing I have to compare it to. It is like a gas engine that is missing, kind of a stutter. I thought about calling the dealership but without it doing it all the time or without the check engine light being on I do not think they could offer much assistance. Any ideas of what may be happening.
It was maybe damp out but raining no. 4613 how did your dealer diagnose the problem? Mine will probably tell me to bring it in when the problem happens more regularly or when the check engine light comes on.

It's not totally related but it sounds like a similar problem we had with one of our Caterpillar tractors. The problem was it would miss just like your pickup is doing, kinda of a stutter. If you shut it off, it would sometimes fix it for a day or even a week. The problem ended up being a loose/corroded electrical connection on the injector. We tried cleaning it but ended up putting a new injector in, all because of a loose connection. It sounds very similar to this problem.

Sounds as if the injector is clogged up, bad fuel, or you got some watered down fuel.
Dreen the filters and run some fuel injector cleaner threw it. I bet it will clear it up unless you got really messed injector that need to be taken off to clean.

mine does the same thing. it seems to be between 2000-3000 rpm at 20psi of boost. it feels kinda like a dead spot. as if it had a carb on it and it was cold.
Not sure when your truck was built, but I had mine in for a similar problem shortly after I bought it earlier this summer. There was a batch of trucks built in the April-May time frame that had 3 bad injectors in them from a reversed polarity test at the factory. Mine would feel like it was missing until I really got on it and then it would smooth out. Your dealer should be able to tell you if yours falls into the same boat as mine did.
Since having that repair done, mine runs like a champ! Actually got just over 19 mpg on a trip across US 6 through the canyons. Best I've done yet. I love this truck!

Mine did the same thing the other day and yes it was raining. I thought it was just going through a regen. Since I have a rattle in the overhead I guess I might just drop it off and let them tell me what they find on both... I have 9000 miles on it so far.
