6.4 pre-production loaner is mine for 2 days

I'm getting my '02 front end worked on and the dealer gave me his new '08 pre-production KR with ALL the bells and lace panties. It has 8500 miles on it. Power feels much like the 6.0 to me with alot better take off. When at idle, the rpm's increase to 1000-1200; is that the re-gen doing it's thing? That's gotta really hurt mileage with such a high rpm level. Also while on I-84 and the cruise set at 80, it did a couple of "chugs" like the CPS was having an issue. It was the only time it did it, but kinda strange. I really like the tow-haul, pretty neat. The Nav is nice, but with Polerized sun glasses, you can't see it as the screen appears too dark. Have to take your sun glasses off to see it and then with my old eyes, I can't read it then w/o putting on my regular glasses. KR seat are very nice a fairly comfortable but your butt doesn't slide around to change positions on that leather. I get to keep it until Friday afternoon, so if I have any other comments, I'll pass them along. I didn't get to drive a 6.0 but for an hour or so in 2004 and haven't driven one since, so I guess it won't be as good of a comparison to it, but I'll be as candid as I can.

To make EVERYTHING run better you need to add an ATS Ported Housing to each turbo.

sorry had to.

(Clean) the filter and see if she will throw a check engine light or have any driveability issues.

There's some brightness adjustments in options screen that you can adjust on the Nav unit, must be set to low.

They'd have to take the cab off to install it.

The Edge company is here in Ogden; thought I'd run it by their place for an "attitude" change, but don't want to spend my money on it.

Re: 6.4 pre-production loaner is mine for 2 days

Well, I turned the 6.4 in today and picked up my '02 7.3. I have to say that after 2 full days of driving this rig, that I am impressed with it's power, tranny, turning radius and comfort. I could really get to liking this rig as a stock truck. It rides and handles like a dream. I guess the only real knock on this truck would be the mileage, but I have to admit that I drove the pee-dog out of it, so the mileage isn't "normal". Lots of bad press on the emissions crap, but I guess that's something we're all going to live with from now on. Bottom line is IF I was going to buy a new diesel truck, it would be this one; it's a very nice ride.
